FLEETWOOD'S face-lift continues with the development of an art feature, known as the Wave.
The feature, funded by Lofthouse of Fleetwood and the Association of Business Sponsorship of the Arts, aims to act as a setting for the highly acclaimed Welcome Home sculpture on the Esplanade.
Deputy chief executive of Wyre Council Brian Rowe said: "This is just a taste of things to come and could mark the start of a much larger project which would see the enhancement of the whole waterfront area - from the golf club in the west to the ferry and tram terminus in the east."
The council, working in partnership with Lofthouse, already has plans in place to improve the area around Marine Hall and Marine Gardens, including a new lighting scheme.
Also under discussion is the extension of the block paving scheme to footways on Laidleys Walk and the Esplanade.
In addition, the council is also preparing bids to obtain lottery funding to upgrade the Marine Hall and Fleetwood Leisure Centre.
Brian Rowe added: "Fleetwood's Esplanade is one of the best in the country and plays an important part in the heritage of the town.
"It is already a popular and attractive asset among residents and visitors - we want to keep it that way and ensure it is put firmly on the tourist trail."
