Lancaster 12 Rotherham 8 FORGET Manchester United. Lancaster water polo team achieved a domestic treble of their own last weekend with a victory in the final of the ASA knockout Trophy held at Slat Ayre Leisure Centre.

About two hundred enthusiastic spectators were treated to a thrilling home win despite a spirited and stubborn resistance from Rotherham. Lancaster are now the proud holders of the British Deep Water Championship, the English National League and the ASA Trophy creating yet another unique achievement in the club's lengthy history.

The match itself did not produce one of Lancaster's best performances and only Colin Burgess who once again provided the bulk of Lancaster's thrust up front and, of course, netted his typical bagful of goals. Also vital team members of this victory were Simon Baker who made two or three crucial saves in goal and Ian Mountfield who entertained the crowd with a couple of typical individualist efforts while under heavy pressure.
