A £200,000 boost will help East Lancashire firms go green.

The East Lancashire Business Environment Network has secured the cash from Europe.

ELBEN aims to help small and medium sized companies comply with environmental laws, access grants to improve the way they work and to open the way for new markets.

The £200,000 will be used to susidised the services ELBEN offers local firms.

"There is no doubt that a positive approach to environmental management can pay dividends," said Andy Fawcett of ELTEC, which is one of the partners in ELBEN, along with the Groundwork Business Environment Association, Northern Technologies Enterprise plc and the Environment Agency.

"Unless employers can access professonal, practical and affordable advice, the environment can be a burden rather than an opportunity."
