MARTIN Meadows heads for South Wales this weekend looking to extend his lead in the BTRDA Gold Star championship.
The Clitheroe rallyman - who recently clinched a sponsorship deal with Silverstone Tyres - has been a consistent class winner in his Proton Compact, and maximum points on the Port Talbot-based Red Dragon Rally will strengthen his grip on the series.
Meadows will be joined by Slaidburn's John Thompson, who is leading contender for the BTRDA Silver Star Championship in his Track-Tec Escort Cosworth.

Reigning British stock car champion John Lund will defend his title at Coventry's International Motor Speedway next Saturday. The Rimington farmer has struggled to get to grips with his new short wheelbase car in the opening races of 1999, but recent performances have shown a return to form.
Should he claim the top prize in 1999 it will be Lund's seventh British title success.
The CPL Homefire British Drivers Championship is staged next Saturday, June 5, starting at 7pm. The stadium is situated on Rugby Road, Brandon, Coventry.
