A WALLPAPER company has got the environment covered!
John Wilman Ltd, based at Riverside Mills, Nelson, is converting its printing technology from a solvent-based system to a water-based one.
The move, costing more than £1million, should substantially reduce emissions of VOCs - volatile organic compounds - which can damage air quality.
Quality and environmental manager Debbie Emmott said: "Air pollution is a global concern.
"VOCs are often associated with the formation of low level ozone and photochemical smog which is damaging to air quality and a contributory factor in ailments such as asthma and related allergies."
The company has entered the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Grimewatch competition, which rewards environmental improvements.
Businesses, schools, local authorities, community groups and individuals are all eligible to enter.
