HASLINGDEN'S biggest single council house improvement scheme is under way at Broadway where 175 homes are being given a new lease of life.
The facelift work includes more than 60 sheltered housing bungalows at Raven Park and Raven Croft.
New double-glazed windows and doors, roof repairs, garden and landscaping improvements, similar to those at the Top of the Town estate, are giving fresh pride to the community.
The scheme is part of the £5 million Housing Action scheme, jointly funded by Action for Haslingden and Rossendale Council.
Tony Earnshaw, deputy director of Action for Haslingden, said: "There is bound to be some disruption while the improvements are being done, but residents have said they are happy to cope with any inconvenience because they know everything is being done for their benefit."
