LORD and Lady Waddington are stepping out on familiar paths to raise money for the Cancer Research Campaign.
And they are asking people from across East Lancashire to join them.
Lord Waddington, former Home Secretary and Ribble Valley MP, and his wife, who is regional chairman of the charity in the North West, are taking part in a nine-mile sponsored walk along the Sabden Valley on June 20.
The couple live in Read and Lady Waddington said: "This is a delightful walk and it is a great way to raise money for vital research.
"No-one who walks in this valley could fail to be impressed by its breathtaking beauty."
The route was planned by countryside ranger volunteer Colin Cooke, who at 74 walks around six miles a day. He will lead the walk.
The Cancer Research Campaign's area fund-raiser for Lancashire, Mike Davis, said: "Scientists funded by the Cancer Research Campaign are making great strides forward in finding new cures and treatments but we need events like this to ensure the work continues to be funded."
The walk will start from the Rose Gardens in Sabden at 11am and is expected to finish at 4pm.
