GLEN Barlow hit his 10,000th Lancashire League run on his way to 31 against Todmorden at Bacup Road.

But it wasn't enough to save Rawtenstall from their fourth defeat of the season as the visitors wrapped up a comfortable 43-run victory.

Todmorden openers Stewart Priestley (50) and Richard Baigent (78) laid the foundations for a big total.

But Keith Roscoe struck back with 5-79 to restrict the men from Centre Vale to 185-7.

That looked to be in Rawtenstall's reach as Barlow, Matt Hanson (24) and Peter Seal (24) all chipped in with middle-order contributions.

But Dave Parker (3-18) and John Morgan (4-26) put the brakes on before blowing away the tail as the home side collapsed to 142 all out.

Rawtenstall pro Lloyd Ferreira missed the first two overs of the game after his train from London broke down.

Ramsbottom were entitled to feel hard done by as they lost their rain-affected match with Rishton at Acre Bottom, despite boasting a faster run rate than their visitors.

The calculators came out with Ramsbottom on 127-6 chasing Rishton's 162. Rain forced the loss of the last 13 overs and, when the complex system of deciding the revised target came into play, it was discovered that the home side needed 131 for victory.

Yet, if the game had run its course, they would surely have won.

Professional Matt Pascoe (40 not out) had defied a virus to dig Ramsbottom out of a hole at 69-6 and set them up for victory until the rain stepped in.

Earlier, Pascoe had bowled unchanged (5-70) against a Rishton side who also staged a fighting recovery. Stuart Roberts, who hit eight boundaries in his dominant 68, shared a profitable eighth-wicket stand of 55 with Paul Clifford (12 not out) to take them to respectability at 162.

Nelson crusied to an easy victory at Church where the home side's innings simply fell apart after a decent start.

Craig Fergusson (49) and professional Neil McGarrell (28) promised much for Church but their total of 112-9 fell way short of expectations.

In the last 10 overs, Church managed only 26 runs and lost six wickets. Roger Harper (5-45) was his usual consistent self.

Duncan Spencer (49 not out) and Paul Garaghty (52) ensured no slip-ups by the champions as they romped to 113-2. Garaghty needed only 48 balls to make 50 and there were a total of 17 boundaries in the free-scoring Nelson innings.

Haslingden maintained their impressive start to the season with a 26-run victory over Enfield at Dill Hall Lane.

The visitors posted 167-9 thanks largely to a gutsy 42 from Paul Blackledge as Aussie paceman Dave Saker picked up 6-64. But once Saker (10) and skipper Andy Barker (17) had departed relatively cheaply, Enfield's chances of victory all but disappeared despite a brave 29 from tailender Damian Hartley.

Professional Brad McNamara and (3-45) and Andrew Sidley (4-31) did the damage as the home side were skittled for 141.

Joe Scuderi hit an unbeaten 74 out of 97-3 as Colne beat Accrington by seven wickets.

Nick Moulding's 5-35, which would have been even more impressive had he not conceded 10 runs from his final over, had reduced Accrington to 95 all out.

And the Colne reply might have been in similar trouble had it not been for Scuderi as they were reduced to 3-2 by Kaz Shazad.

Andy Roberts then made just eight out of a 54-run stand with Scuderi, but the professional guided his side home with a commanding innings lasting 115 balls with nine fours and a six.
