I WAS asked if I could sell an old piano-accordion for a neighbour. It was placed in an easy-chair for safety.

One of our grandchildren, Dianne, aged 10, was visiting us and as soon as she came into the house, she was drawn to it like a magnet.

"Can I have a go on it?" she asked.

"Yes," I replied, wondering what she would make of it.

She pressed one or two of the piano keys and, naturally, without her operating the bellows, it remained silent.

Dianne then said: "Are the batteries done?"
