A FURTHER 89 homes look set to be built on the edge of a 244-home estate which is under construction in Clayton-le-Moors.
Beazer Homes has applied for permission to build 89 homes with garages on land bordering the Barratt development at Sefton Farm, where a 244-home project is close to completion.
The site, to the north of Burnley Road, is earmarked for housing development in Hyndburn Council's borough plan.
Beazer Homes must agree to pay for the provision and maintenance of school playing fields, a canal footbridge and equipment for a playground on Burnley Road as part of a deal with the council for approval.
A new roundabout, similar to the one constructed for the Barratt site, would be built on Burnley Road if the plans are approved.
Traffic experts have recommended that the junction of Whalley Road and Burnley Road would have to be improved and this work is under way, a report to councillors states.
One resident has voiced concern about parking provision at the nearby Altham Rest Home, and the developer's plans have been revised to ensure there is no ill-effect on parking and access to the home.
The plan will be considered by Hyndburn development services committee on Wednesday afternoon.
