GREEN fingered John Whitford and Brenda Ellis are taking a well earned break after raising 530 trays of seeds for a hospice plant sale.
John, of Appleby Drive, Barrowford, has been raising money for Pendleside Hospice since his wife died five years ago and this year's sale saw him filling two greenhouses full of plants.
He said: "I would like to thank neighbours, friends and relatives for their help and support.
"Who could have imagined back in 1994 when I planted my first seed it would be the great success it is today.
"The first sale made £97 - this year the total is more than £1,400.
"It is very rewarding for us, we spend many hours in the greenhouses often till late in the evening, but we are spurred on by the knowledge that every penny raised is going to helping local people in our local hospice."
John and Brenda will be holding a coffee morning at Appleby Drive when a cheque will be presented to the hospice.
