STAR Trek fan James Henderson, who met his American fiance over the Internet, saw her for the first time today, via a satellite link-up on breakfast television.
James, 29, of Lincoln Street, Haslingden, and fellow Star Trek fan Stacey Reece, who lives in Fairbanks, Alaska, became engaged after e-mailing each other for six weeks.
Today James was able to see Stacey, also 29, on GMTV with Eamonn Holmes, but as the link was just one-way, she had to make do with just a picture of the man to whom she has proposed.
Before he saw Stacey, James admitted he was feeling "very nervous" and said he had a vivid image of his fiance in his mind.
"Through talking on the Internet we just seemed to click ... we just seemed to have such a lot in common and we get on so well," he told GMTV.
Stacey came on screen hanging her head, giggling and professing she was "a little nuts", but James seemed to be impressed, telling her: "I just hope I see you soon. I definitely can't wait to see you."
Asked if the marriage plans were still on, he said: "Yes. There was never any doubt in my mind."
As she opened James' picture, Stacey could only say: "Cool."
She said she proposed to James on the spur of the moment, and added: "We got a lot in common and we laugh a lot.
James said the couple hoped to meet soon. "It 's just a matter of her getting a passport and getting over here," he said.
