AS a 64-year-old 'Harroder' and having lived on Blackburn Road for 37 years, I feel I know the comings and goings of traffic. A good percentage of the lorries are Clitheroe-based carrying tar and rubble for the motorways and are only passing through.
Lorries and vans feeding our shops, I welcome. So what of a few more delivering for our benefit?
It may mean slower traffic, but who cares? - except the people who are leaving in their cars, probably to shop out of town. I endorse all Mrs D M Westell (Letters, May 17) said about all the lorries that used to go through the town to Oxo and other factories.
So I say welcome the Safeway supermarket bringing more work to our town and improving it by bringing more life to it.
F SAYNOR (Mr), Blackburn Road, Great Harwood.
