AFTER last week's humiliating defeat by Haslingden Methodists, Attock bounced back to form with a 57-run victory over Manchester Road at Bullough Park.
Batting first, Attock compiled the best score of the season, totalling 154-6, being the first and so far only team to gain a batting bonus point. A far cry from last Sunday's five all out. Captain Arbrar Shah took 5-27 as only Andrew Glover (16) and Mick Wilcock (13) offered any resistance for Manchester Road.
Whalley Road moved clear at the top of the A Division with a 37 run win over Haslingden Methodists at Wilsons. Mick Johnson (31) and Steve Sipocz (23) helped Whalley Road to 99-8. Ryan Holt took 4-29 in an economical 18 over spell for Methodists. Dave Halstead reduced Methodists from 30-4 to 33-7, taking 3-0 in his figures of 4-12.
1998 champions Millennium also put last week's disappointing start behind them, beating close rivals Taverners by eight runs at King George's. Left handed opener Nadeem Ashraf top scored with 44 valuable runs to take his side past the century mark.
Paul Fitzpatrick was Taverners best bowler with 6-46. Only John Finn posed a threat to Millennium with 23 as Arif Hussain took four wickets to give last year's top side their first win. The B Division produced two low scoring games as Highams again proved to be an embarrassment to Hyndburn Council. On two allotment standard wickets, St Phillips succumbed to 32 all out losing by seven wickets to surprise packet Taverners B and Accrington A were bowled out for 62 by Peel Park.
Alistair Dormer top scored with 16 for the under-strength Blackburn side as Mark Maden took 8-15 in 10, four accurate overs of medium paced seam bowling. Terry Kenny hit back with three wickets for St Phillip's, but it was not enough to prevent Taverners B coasting home by seven wickets.
A seventh wicket stand of 20 between captain Nick Whittaker (26 not out) and young Robert Addison steered Peel Park to a three-wicket win over Accrington A after Phil Carter had taken 7-29 in Accrington's innings. Mark Ashton top scored with 28 for Accrington.
