AN initiative to help firms save money and help the environment has been launched in East Lancashire.

The Groundwork Business Environment Association, in partnership with the Environment Agency, has developed the two-year project which aims to reduce water consumption. And it will tackle flood risks for companies by developing more effective drainage systems to cope with spells of heavy rainfall.

The initiative will offer firms access to training, specialist technology and onside consultations.

"Effective water management will enable companies to make real financial savings as well as safeguarding the environment and existing water supplies," said BEA water adviser Angus Boyd.

Further details on the Sustainable Water East Lancs project are available from Angus on 01254 265163.
