IT is to be hoped that such vandals as can read have seen your report (LET, May 18) on the damage at Blackburn cemetery at Roe Lee and, in particular, have noted the concern of Inspector Bob Ford that "vandals could be seriously injured if crushed by falling gravestones."
It must be our fervent wish that any vandal contemplating further desecration of this or any other graveyard may be apprehended before he is careless enough to hurt himself (to the considerable detriment of his enjoyment of his leisure pursuits), since the cost of his hospital treatment and subsequent social security payments would be an additional financial burden on us, the community.
