A MAN who was found dead at his home had traces of several drugs in his body, an inquest heard.

Steven Jackson, a packer, of Burnley Road, Accrington, had taken a heroin-type drug, anti-depressant tablets and cannabis.

Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley coroner Andre Rebello recorded a verdict that Mr Jackson had killed himself.

The court heard 26-year-old Mr Jackson was believed to have been a regular drug user. A post mortem examination by Home Office pathologist Dr William Lawler revealed he died of 'morphine toxicity'.

An injection mark was found on Mr Jackson's body when he was discovered in a bed at his home on February 26.

PC Angela Marsh of Accrington Police told the court a note written by Mr Jackson and addressed to his parents was found next to his body.

A toxicology report by Dr Mike France said there was evidence the dead man had taken a heroin-type drug, sleeping tablets and cannabis.

The morphine level in his bloodstream was within the range normally associated with therapeutic or recreational use.

But the report added that death caused by the effects of the heroin-type drug was still possible even from a relatively low dosage.

Mr Rebello said there was nothing to suggest Mr Jackson had been forced to take the drugs and his death was not an accident.
