A MOVIE company is coming to East Lancashire in September to film part of the amazing life story of a reformed drug addict.
Stephen Smith was down and out in various towns around Lancashire, including Blackburn and Burnley, when he was fighting drug addiction.
Now Addict - the criminal-turned-writer's own book on his life - is to be turned into a Hollywood film by producer Gary Kurtz, who has been involved with Star Wars and American Graffiti.
Stephen is now in his 50s and lives in Germany with his wife Hannelore. She saved him from his life of crime, which included getting involved in gangland London of the 1960s, and helped him to leave his past behind and start a new life.
He said: "The movie producers will be briefly filming in a lot of towns in Lancashire to show the places where I was down and out and they will be looking for extras from the local community. They will be filming from the second week in September and into October."
Anyone interested in taking part should write to Gary Kurtz, 2 Blake Close, Galley Common, Nuneaton, Warwickshire CV10 9RQ.
