MORE than 30 firefighters tackled a blaze at a building site in William Henry Street, Preston.
A row of terraced houses were well alight when fire crews arrived after receiving a call at 6.35pm on Tuesday (June 1).
Six pumps, an incident support unit and breathing apparatus unit were rushed to the site from Preston, Leyland and Bamber Bridge to deal with the fire, in a two-storey row of ten terraced homes.
When they arrived, the ground floor, first floor and roof were alight and 12 firefighters in breathing apparatus put out the fire with six jets.
Aerial cover was supplied by two triple-extension ladders.
A Fire Service spokesman said that fire caused 80 per cent of the damage and the remainder was due to smoke and heat.
The damage was estimated at £150,000 and five houses were damaged by the blaze, the cause of which was unknown.
