PLANS for the first ever Party in The Park, in Winckley Square, are taking shape with a host of exciting activities already in the pipeline.
More than £700 of the Friends of Winckley Square committee's cash has already been earmarked for a host of entertainments for the big bash on Sunday, July 4.
Committee members have already made provisional plans for an on-site Punch and Judy act as well as accordion players and a clown who models balloons.
And the group is confident that they will be able to secure a booking with the Silver Bell Band to perform.
There are plans for traditional fun fair rides such as swing boats, along with other suitable attractions and the group is also close to securing the services of various food establishments.
The event is the brainchild of local businessman Tarquin Scott, of Tarkitecture, who wants to raise awareness of the Square as a thriving business centre.
Committee members include residents and business leaders in Winckley Square as well as restaurateur Paul Heathcote, who has run a brassiere in the Square for just over a year.
And, as a newspaper that is proud to be part of your community, the Citizen, based in Chapel Street on the corner of Winckley Square, are on the frontline of the preparations for the grand event.
