THE chairman of Lancashire's education and cultural services committee has congratulated the staff, governors and pupils of Eldon County Primary School on a glowing Ofsted report.
The school, in Preston, had been subject to 'special measures' imposed by Ofsted inspectors, to raise educational standards.
The latest report congratulated the pupils on their good response to work. It said that they were keen to learn and increase their knowledge.
Inspectors also found that 60 per cent of all teaching was good, or very good, and all teaching was satisfactory.
The management of the school was also praised, especially the staff meetings, planning sessions and in-service training schemes.
Education and cultural services chairman County Coun Hazel Harding said: "I would like to congratulate headteacher Mary Clay, her staff and governors, who have made great efforts to raise standards at Eldon County Primary.
"Their commitment to their pupils and raising standards has been confirmed by this excellent inspection report from Ofsted."
Headteacher Mary Clay said: "I am very proud that the hard work of everyone connected with Eldon County Primary School has been recognised by Ofsted inspectors."
The school will be involved in the National Numeracy project which it is expected will raise achievements in maths.
Experience gained as part of the National Literacy Project will also be put into practice to improve pupils' writing skills.
