The airborne might of NATO will be on display for a celebration of its 50th anniversary.

More than 50 aircraft will line up on the taxi-way, canopies up, lights on as hovering helicopters fly the national flags of NATO countries.

Allied and former Eastern Bloc aircraft will fly past in a soaring demonstration of international friendship, led by the world famous Red Arrows.

A unique contest will see NATO engineers on red alert, racing against the clock and each other to equip another NATO partner's aircraft - so the RAF could be preparing a MiG 29 for combat.

The Royal Auxiliary Air Force will take part in an hour long flying pageant with similar organisations from around the world to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
