WHAT a mean, selfish person Gladys Robinson sounds (Letters, May 26). Does she not understand the difference between our old people and those poor refugees?
I agree it was a shame to close the old people's homes, but at least the residents had somewhere to go. The poor refugees, through no fault of theirs, have nowhere and I, for one, am so pleased that our home town can help.
I say: Welcome, stay as long as you need. We know they will go as soon as they can because they need their home country.
