ST ANNES had an easy eight wickets victory over Leyland at Vernon Road on Saturday (May 29), finishing on 112-2, with Leyland's reply 109-9.
St Annes captain Russell Bradley won the toss and put Leyland in to bat and the visitors found runs difficult to accumulate.
Middle-order batsman Ian Oakes top scored with 36 and Shabir Mustafa assisted him with 27, but only a spirited unbroken partnership from the last pair of Martin Hackett and Julian Edwards saw the 100 come up.
The former was undefeated with 8 and the latter 11.
St Annes professional Dave Callaghan bowled superbly to take 5-32 from 21 overs.
St Annes raced to victory in the 27th over.
Andy Kellett carried his bat for 46.
His innings lasted 102 minutes and he hit five boundaries off 81 balls.
Dave Callaghan became man of the match by making 37.
His innings lasted 56 minutes and he his 4 fours off 47 balls.
