WHEN Indian cyclist Debojyoti Ghosh set off from India on a nine year cycle ride across the world he didn't even know that Lancaster existed.
But since the 29-year-old pitched up to the university on Tuesday he's more than impressed with the area. Said 29-year-old Debojyoti: "This city is very natural and peaceful. The students and the Students' Union have been very friendly."
As well as the highlight of arriving in Lancaster Debojyoti has met the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama and Indian cricket star Dapil Dev. His trusty bike has already covered more than 44,000 kilometres. He started his journey in December 1993 and doesn't plan to return home until 2002. Lancaster Students' Union provided him with a room.
