SHERDLEY Park golf club captain Phil Benyon launched a one-man drive for charity.
He embarked in a sponsored 72-hole golf marathon to raise money for the Whiston Hospital Baby Care Unit and for Leukaemia for Children.
He returned scores of 81, 74, 75, 78, playing off a handicap of five.
Phil would like to thank his family and friends for their encouragement. He also thanks his caddies for the day, Phil Evans and Ron Holden, and Sherdley Park sports manager Brian Collins, who allowed him free use of the course.
In addition he is grateful to the other golfers who allowed him to play through.
The club's Spartan Trophy was won by B. Taylor (65-3-62). Second was D. Jenkins (78-13-65) and third was A. Unwin (87-21-66).
Meanwhile, there are still vacancies for the club for the St Helens Open on June 12. For further details ring 815518.
