ANYONE concerned about the state of the world can play a small part by joining in with Jubilee 2000's initiatives over the next couple of weeks.
To co-incide with the European elections on June 10, Jubilee 2000 plan to gather the biggest ever petition in one day. They will be based outside polling stations and hope to collect signatures on a petition which calls for the cancellation of unpayable debts for the world's poorest countries for the year 2000.
The group claim this single measure would offer a fresh start for up to one billion people.
And on Saturday at 2pm, local people are encouraged to take part in a human chain on Morecambe Promenade. People will link hands at the site of Morecambe arena, opposite Hitchens, before releasing balloons.
To support the campaign or to offer your services as a volunteer, call Margaret Rand on 751965 or Mr Brown on 417662.
