THERE'S two great new exhibitions at Folly Gallery this month.

Sandy Gardners "Pathways of the Imaginary" uses computers to overlay, change and meld different images to create rich brew of symbols and fragments of narrative.

The precise photographic quality of her pictures with their rich colour and visual texture has an immediate appeal but become mysterious as soon as the eye tries to explore the detail.

Sandy uses Wiccan symbolism, alchemy and personal imagery to explore questions of female identity and universality. See it in the main gallery until July 10.

"The Mask Behind the Veil" by Liz Miles explores the imagery of the veil as used by woman to both conceal and attract at the same time. This is connected with the way in which women are expected to present a false, acceptably modified face to the world, hiding their own reality. The exhibition runs until July 10.

Converted for the new archive on 14 July 2000. Some images and formatting may have been lost in the conversion.
