THE St Helens Schools Mixed Rounders Tournament proved once again that rounders is not just a girls' game.
In a mini-league of four, namely St Augustines, Rainford, Newton and Cowley High, Rainford came away victors, with Cowley as runners-up.
The St Helens Rounders League thank Julie Fraser's organisation, and hope to continue the strong links with schools.
The 'open to all' boast is backed up by the Mixed Tournament, which is an annual event and held later in the season.
In a week when fixtures were again disrupted by the weather, Haresfinch, still searching for their first win, yet as keen as ever, had Patti Howell to thank for their only rounder in an 8-19 defeat by Rainhill.
Grasshoppers, who only managed to field a team of seven instead of the usual nine, still managed two rounders from Wendy Beresford and Nicola Friar. Sutton fielding a full side, put in an excellent all-round team performance with Andrea Travis hitting a rounder, Andrea Johnson, in super form, hit five rounders, exploiting the inevitable gaps in the field, Suttons score reaching 15 and a deserved win.
