BURY businesswomen have been given a rare insight into the world of a top female newspaper features writer.
Forthright Daily Mail columnist Lynda Lee-Potter was one of the speakers at a special "Women in Business" seminar held in the town.
She entertained the 43-strong female audience with an hour-long review of her career and the people and events she has written about.
The event was organised by Bolton and Bury Chamber's Business Link and was held at their base at Link House, Bury.
The other speaker at the half-day seminar was Rochdale businesswoman Diane Bailey. Mrs Doreen Caunce, Business Link business support executive, said: "Lynda told us about the people she had interviewed who she was most intrigued by. She also spoke about the exasperations she had faced as a writer."
It was Mrs Caunce who had initially approached Miss Lee-Potter to invite her to speak at the Bury seminar.
"I wanted someone who would be entertaining and decided on Lynda because she's a top columnist."
Diane Bailey spoke about the benefits and pitfalls involved in running a business. The speeches were followed by a question and answer session.
Mrs Caunce continued: "The whole event was just brilliant and the feedback was excellent - people were asking me when the next one is."
