SMALL voluntary groups are being encouraged to cash in on Millennium money.
Bury Council is keen to ensure organisations involved in arts, sports, heritage, Millennium, or charity activities do not lose out on grants of between £500 and £15,000 to help mark the turn of the century.
The Millennium Festival Awards for All are targeted at organisations with an annual income under £15,000.
Bury's Millennium co-ordinator, Mr Adrian Frost, said: "We are convinced that there are many, many small organisations in Bury which could benefit from this funding.
"We want them to apply as quickly as possible and make sure they do not miss out.
"Grants are available to local sports or youth clubs, uniformed organisations, ethnic community groups, even neighbourhood associations. Schools or colleges also linked with local sports clubs could stand to benefit as well."
Mr Frost added: "The organisers are particularly interested in groups which may not have had the opportunity to benefit from Lottery funds before."
Application forms are available, and groups and organisations should call 0845 600 2040. Advice can also be obtained from Sport England at their North West regional office on 0161 834 0338.
