PLANS are being drawn up to honour those who gave their lives in the Second World War.
The Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown branch of the Royal British Legion are trying to compile a list of local victims of the conflict.
When it is complete, the organisers will ask St Helens Council to add a further wing, complete with the names of the fallen of that war to the War Memorial outside the old Town Hall in Market Street, Earlestown.
The branch requires full names, official service numbers, rank and actual service (such as Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force. If the person was a member of the Army the regiment must be stated. And if decorations were awarded they should be included in the details.
All names forwarded must have been residents of the Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown areas.
Names may be sent to either of the following:
Hon. Secretary, The Royal British Legion, TS Warspite 9/11 Cross Lane, Newton-le-Willows, WA12 9PT.
Or to Hon. Secretary, The Royal British Legion, 20 Johnson Avenue, Newton-le-Willows, WA12 0LE.
