CHRIS ACKERS' boots are definitely made for walking! And he is now putting the finishing touches to preparations for a mammoth 24-hour June walk - covering SIXTY miles over 20 Lakeland peaks and 17,000 feet of ascent.
The sponsored walk, starting on June 18, will be on behalf of two charities, the Carers National Association (supporting people who look after the disabled, sick and elderly at home) and Barnabus (a Manchester-based group which each evening go onto the city streets providing food, toiletries and medical treatment for the homeless).
Chris, 37, of Holden Road, Leigh, will be walking with two pals, Brian Bracegirdle, 49, from Salford, and 60-year-old Urmston man David Watts.
Sponsorship will be gratefully accepted. Call Chris on 01942-603370. 105/142/24
