I THINK all expenditure on works of art which may or may not be acceptable to affluent society should be scrapped indefinitely by Blackburn with Darwen Council, which is forever denying there is enough money for council house repairs and other essentials.
Then, money saved on such items could boost the repairs fund and also bring forward the urgent need to redesign the present 'open-plan' (to vandalism) of housing areas.
Fencing off, where possible (space-wise), would give lone and elderly residents a more comforting sense of security by keeping repeated vandalism and nuisance element away from direct access to their targets.
Elderly citizens deserve and welcome a measure of peace in the comfort of home.
