Firearms experts are examining a 9mm Beretta pistol and ammunition found under floorboards of a house in Burnley.
Police received a called yesterday from the occupier of a house in Ennismore Street saying he had found a handgun and ammunition under the floorboards.
A firearms team went to the house and recovered the pistol.
DC Andy Bell said: "The items are now being examined and inquiries are on-going.''
