KNUZDEN Youth Under-15s have entered three five-a-side competitions so far this year, winning two and losing in the final of the other.
After winning the Blackburn with Darwen competition and losing in the final of the Akzo Nobel competition they won the Ribble Valley competition in conjunction with Clitheroe Wolves/Readstone.
This is the fourth time they have won this particular festival which attracts teams from all over Lancashire.
They started off slowly, losing 1-0 to Great Harwood Rovers, two 0-0 draws with Barrowford Celtic and Grimsargh Juniors, a 1-0 win over Readstone (Damien Hindle scoring) and a 1-0 win over Brierfield Celtic (Jayson Scott scoring) which saw them through to the semis where they defeated Blackburn Academy 2-0, Hindle scoring both.
In the final they produced great form defeating Clitheroe Wolves 3-0 to lift the trophy. Hindle scored two and Jayson Scott scored a wonder goal, beating everyone the complete length of the field before scoring.
Knuzden: Damian Hindle (capt), Jayson Scott, Danny Cawtherry, Phil Jewel, Lee Haywood, Matt Shaw.
The Under 12s were desperately unlucky the previous day losing out in the semi-finals 1-0 to the golden goal rule. In their group they beat Fulledge Colts 1-0, (Mitchell Lucas scoring), Readstone United 2-0 (Lucas and Adam Gannon scoring), Borrowdale Utd 2-0 (Lucas and Andy McMonagle on target).
