A BURGLARY victim shocked by a break-in at her house was left reeling when thieves targeted her home again later the same day.

Maureen Askew said: "This is the third burglary we have had in less than a month.

"It is no joke to find that people have been searching around your home and stealing whatever they put their hands on.''

Maureen runs a fish and chip shop close to her home in Lowerhouse Lane, Burnley. Her husband Bryan works at Silentnight.

She said: "I was working in the chip shop when my daughter came in. I could see straight away from her face that something was wrong. "She told me the house had been burgled. An Hitachi video recorder and Sony PlayStation were stolen.

"We reported it to the police but later in the evening someone came back in through the same back window. This time a mini music system and the flight bag were stolen. It just makes you angry that someone has been in and helped themselves.''

She added: "We only bought the house at the beginning of the year but already we have had three burglaries, on May 26 and now two yesterday.

"A flight bag was stolen yesterday but at least they left our passports and holiday tickets. We shall take our holiday to Tenerife as planned and try to put this to the back of our minds.''

The house will remain occupied and extra security measures are being taken to prevent it happening again. Police are investigating.
