ROSSENDALE'S Dave Lewis won the Harry Kelly 5M Trail Race at Littleborough in 26.06. Ron Hill (Clayton) was 71st. Darwen Dasher Jim Taylor was 72nd with junior Leon O'Toole 78th. Another Dasher, Nigel Dewhurst finished eighth of 127 in the Wigan 10K trail race. Ron Hill's son Graham won the Freckleton Half Marathon. Clayton Harriers' Alan Clarkson (8th), David Gregory (9th) and Andrew Taylor (12th) were highest placed locals. Ted Orrell (Clayton) was first M60. Willy Garner (Red Rose) beat his PB by over three minutes to finish 14th in 1:16.22 and Jennifer Adams was first L45. Daniel Howe, visiting from New Zealand, ran his first half marathon in 1:39.49 to beat his uncle Steve Frost (Blackburn RR). Blackburn Road Runner Mick Nester ran the Potteries Marathon in 2.56. Supervet Al Hodgson of Accrington Road Runners completed in 4.23 with team-mate Dave Rowlands close behind in 4.29. Shaun Livesey won Saturday's Great Hill fell race by over a minute, recording 35.08 for the 5.75m course. Keith Johnson (Chorley Harriers) was third with Steve Sweeney (Bowland Fell Runners) fifth. Blackburn Harrier Tim Ryan was first M45, Peter Gillham (Chorley Harriers) first M50 and John Nuttall (Clayton) first M55. Jeanette Coleman (Chorley Harriers) was first L40. Winner of the junior race was David Fearnley of Blackburn Harriers who set a course record of 15.11. At the four mile Buckden Pike Fell Race near Skipton, Mark Horrocks finished second to British champion Ian Holmes. Horrocks Clayton colleagues Anthony Waterworth and Dave Walker were fifth and eight respectively. Tony Bolton was the winning over-50 in a trail race from Bowley Campsite organised by Clayton Harriers. Another Accrington Road Runner, Mark Theaker, took fourth overall. At the Warrington Open Meeting, Louise Dickinson of Park High School took victories in the 100m and 200m. Anne Smith was second in the 1500m.
