TWO road races will be held on roads close to our own area during the next few days with the first of these being held this evening when the Cycling Club of Lancashire, who are sponsored by Barkers Primrose Nurseries at Clitheroe, will be holding a 33-mile event starting at 7.30pm with the headquarters at Longridge Sports Centre.
On Sunday morning, the British Cycling Federation hold their National Championship for over 50-year-old riders on the popular Bashall Eaves circuit.
An entry of 45 has been received for the title race which includes some big names in this category who were even bigger names in their younger days are included Pete Matthews, Dave Watson, Kevin Wood and John Bettinson.
The race starts at the headquarters in Bashall Village at 10am to cover almost six laps of the 11-mile circuit for a total of 65 miles.
