THE body of a man who had been missing from home for five days has been found in the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
Allan Yates' body was discovered yesterdaynear Finnington Lane, Blackburn, and police said there were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
His distraught family identified his body yesterday afternoon.
Finnington Lane is half a mile from Sappi Paper Mill, Feniscowles, where a car belonging to Mr Yates was found abandoned on Sunday.
Mr Yates, 48, of Kings Road, Blackburn, left his wife Doreen preparing a packed lunch at 8.15am on Sunday, saying he was going to pick up his friend Stephen Holmes in Lynthorpe Road, before returning home to collect her for a day out at a vintage bus rally.
Mrs Yates expected him to return within an hour and a half but he never arrived at his friend's home and wasn't seen again.
