NOMINATIONS from East Lancashire are being sought for the 2000 Child of Achievement Awards.

Every year the awards are presented to 150 children up to the age of 16, who by their everyday tasks to help others or who by their ability to overcome illness or disability are worthy of the title 'Child of Achievement.'

The Awards act as an inspiration to other young people, their family and friends of what can be achieved against seemingly insurmountable odds.

Now, the organisers are looking for both individual and group nominations from East Lancashire for the Millennium Child of Achievement Awards to be held in February next year.

It is not only children who have coped with illness or disability who are eligible for the awards, but also children who have shown outstanding devotion to friends and families in times of need, or those who have excelled themselves with fund-raising initiatives can be nominated. Groups of children who have worked together to achieve something remarkable within the community or for the environment are also encouraged to enter.

C & A are supporting the Child of Achievement awards as their millennium project and nominations forms will be available in store from mid-June.
