ASPIRING actor Dermot Canavan has been offered a glimmer of hope in his bid for stardom.
Dermot, 34, has been given £2,000 towards the £11,500 annual sponsorship he needs to accept a place at the prestigious Drama Studios in London.
The training would give Dermot, who works at Preston Combined Courts Centre, a chance to break into the big time.
Since he appeared in the Citizen on June 10, the former Preston Drama Club member, has told his story to Radio Lancashire's Norman Price on air.
He has even received the £2,000 donation from Direct Windows, off Moor Lane, Preston.
A colleague, Janet Berry, has also offered him £200 to help him achieve his dream.
Dermot said: "I'm very grateful to the people who have supported me, and to the Drama Studio, which has given me two or three more weeks to attract sponsorship.
"A local director called Roy Lambert is organising a fund-raising evening and I hope it will help boost the total."
