POTENTIAL pop stars from four Fylde coast schools are perfectly tuned to record a chart-busting Millennium hit thanks to two professional songwriters.
Blackpool's Norbreck Thames Primary School and Bispham Endowed Junior School, Cleveleys' Norbreck Primary School and Hodgson High School from Poulton have been chosen from the 500 North West entries to feature in the Voices of Promise regional final.
Aiming to seek out some scorching school songs from the 7,000 submitted nationally, the top 20 will be performed at the Millennium Dome in February 2000.
In addition, if they are further shortlisted, the songs could feature on a special Christmas CD compilation.
And for getting through to the regional final, which features around 60 schools, Hodgson High, Norbreck Primary and Bispham Endowed Junior schools can count on the help of top songwriter Andrew Titcombe.
He will provide the harmonies, backing vocals and finishing touches to their songs, including Hodgson's entry Promises For The Children written by 12-year-old Daniel Fard.
Norbreck Primary headteacher Ray Fisher said: "The children listened attentively at the brain storming sessions and the teachers were amazed at how he inspired them to create another verse.
"The children are working very hard and we would like to thank Andrew for his expertise and patient help."
Meanwhile, in their bid to reach the last 20 of the competition backed by Phil Collins and Beatles music producer George Martin, Thames Primary have enlisted the help of Mike Amatt to help with their song entitled This Is Our Time.
