A NEW McDonald's drive-through restaurant could be up and running in six weeks if Burnley Council grants permission for the plan on the site of the former Hop pub.

The application for the £1million development between Trafalgar Street and Burnham Gate will be discussed soon by planners.

Amanda Pierce, regional communications officer for McDonald's, said: "If we get approval the building will be our latest in modular designs.

"That means most of the work will be carried out off-site and the building will literally be brought in in about four or five pieces and just fastened together.

"We will be looking to be up and running six weeks after permission is granted and will provide the town with a 75-seater restaurant employing 60 local people, 30 full-time and 30 part-time.
