TUMBLE Tots in Blackpool, Poulton and Lytham are becoming kings of the swingers as they jump into action to raise money for Children Nationwide.

As part of the Tumble Tots 20th Birthday Celebration, children at the 480 centres around the country will be helping to raise funds for Children Nationwide, a charity dedicated to funding research into the treatment, prevention and cure of childhood diseases like meningitis, kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, cancer as well as premature birth.

During special fund-raising sessions throughout the week, children on the Fylde are joining in the Big Swing.

Karen Irving, Licensee for the Fylde, said: "We hope to raise a considerable amount and our 400 members have been very busy getting their family and friends to sponsor them.

"We organised monkey swinging and a giant circuit of equipment in a horseshoe shape with balloons, ribbons and streamers to encourage the children to swing.

"Each day also ends with a giant parachute, which children and parents lie under and swing their legs to keep it off the floor."

Ying-ley Mak, Director of Corporate Affairs for Children Nationwide, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Tumble Tots. This is the first time we have been chosen as a company's official Charity of the Year and their fund-raising will help Children Nationwide to continue to give sick children in the UK the chance of life."

Tumble Tots is a physical play programme for children under seven, designed to build confidence, independence and self-esteem through the development of skills such as agility, balance, co-ordination and climbing.
