ANDY Westwell aims to rewrite the history books next week and become the first golfer in 20 years to retain the Vardon Trophy.
The Rossendale ace was crowned Bury and District Golf Association men's champion last year and begins the defence of his crown at Greenmount Golf Club on Sunday.
Westwell starts as one of the tournament's hot favourites along with clubmates Andrew Nicholls and Phil Hambleton, while Andrew Dunn is expected to shine on his home course.
A top standard of golf is expected with the course demanding a high degree of accuracy and not necessarily favouring the big-hitters.
The action begins on Sunday with 36 holes of golf - the top eight gross scores will be seeded for the quarter-finals on Monday night, 5.30pm start.
The semi-finals will take place on Tuesday, 5.45pm, with the final the following evening at 6pm.
