YOU can step back in time in August with a heritage train trip to Edinburgh.
Green Express Railtours is running a special train from Bolton and Chorley on Saturday, August 14 to the Scottish capitol.
The 13-coach special train comprising of mostly heritage coaches from the 1950s and 1960s seating passengers in fours around a table.
The outward journey will be along the pretty 'Lancashire Witches Line' via Clitheroe past Pendle Hill to Hellifield Junction where the train will travel the full length of the famous Settle and Carlisle railway line then over the renowned Ribblehead Viaduct and across Blea Moor.
TImed to arrive in Edinburgh for lunch, passengers will have four hours to explore Scotland's popular capital.
The homeward journey is along the West Coast line, over Beattock Summit through Annandale and the spectacular remote scenery of the Scottish Borders to Gretna Green and Shap.
In Edinburgh the Festival brings the city alive with acrobats, fire eaters, stilt walkers and jugglers.
Edinburgh is also home to Scotland's most famous castle, inside which are the Crown Jewels of Scotland, and the 'Stone of Destiny'.
All train passengers will be provided with reserved seats and travel guides about the journey and Edinburgh's attractions.
The train leave Bolton at 7.45am (approx).Tickets £31 adult, £26 child with first class £47.
