AN alternative plan to rebuild Lancaster Bus Station on Damside Street - costing £1,488,850 - was put to councillors today (Thursday).
The original plan - estimated at first to cost £867,000 - ran into difficulties because on closer inspection it turned out it would cost more to build. It was also criticized because the proposed design was out of keeping with its historic surroundings.
Councillors had to decide whether to proceed with the current scheme or go for the alternative - which would incorporate a piazza fronting the entrance at the regeneration sub-committee.
