A CHEQUE for more than £7,000 raised over the past 12 months was presented to Pendle Stroke Group.
The group was the charity chosen by previous Mayor and Mayoress Councillor Colin and Julie Waite to benefit from fund-raising during their 12 months in office.
The Mayoress' fund-raising committee organised a host of events during the year which raised £7,928.
A cheque for the amount was handed over by Mrs Waite to the group at the Railway Street community centre, Nelson, yesterday.
The current Mayor and Mayoress, Councillors Edwina Sargeant and Dorothy Lord, have decided to continue raising money for the stroke group as one of several organisations that will benefit during their year in office.
