THERE were never such devoted sisters as Alicia and Rebecca Peacock... and to prove it, the talented pair have each won a top prize in our Young Stars of Tomorrow talent competition.

Eleven year old Rebecca started the ball rolling when she won in the junior category with her moving song and dance version of 'Part of that World' taken from the Disney film, The Little Mermaid. A pupil at Brook Lodge Primary School in Rainford, her ambition is to be a famous singer or dancer.

And this dream is mirrored by that of her older sister Alicia. The 13 year old Rainford High pupil performed a lively version of 'America' from West Side Story and just missed out on the winner's slot, coming in second.

Both girls have been members of the Elizabeth Hill School of Dance and Drama for four years and Alicia recently came North West runner-up in the Miss Dance of Great Britain competition.

She is also preparing to compete in the finals of both the Janet Cramm Modern Dance Championship and the All England Modern Dance Championship, both of which take place in July.

Proud dad, Colin, said: "We were really pleased that both Rebecca and Alicia did so well and they are made up."

The winner in the senior section was 16 year old Lauren Stewart, who went one step better than her second place result in last year's event. Lauren, from Dorgan Close, Rainhill, is currently taking her GCSEs at Rainhill High, and sang 'The Wind Beneath My Wings' to take the star prize. A pupil at the Kirkby Young Dance School, she said: "I love singing, dancing and drama, but my big ambition is to become a professional singer and my aim over the next year is to keep entering and hopefully winning competitions and get signed up to an agent."

The night was also made memorable thanks to the generosity of judge, Ian Parr, representing Pontins Holidays, who was so impressed that he awarded the winners and two runners up in both age categories a week long holiday courtesy of Pontins.

He also presented a 7th holiday to last year's senior winner, Carly Stenson, who performed as part of this year's cabaret.

OTHER winners in this year's event were flautist 14 year old Jenny Heywood, from Daresbury Road in Eccleston, who came third in the senior category; seven year old pianist Monica Savic Jabrow, from Bluebell Avenue, Haydock, who came second in the juniors; and 11 year old Claire Navin, from Coleridge Avenue, Newtown, a former junior winner who came third this year with a comedy song and dance routine called 'Animule'.
